Providing a Serial Number

In order to install and run DIAT, you need to provide a Serial Number. The Serial Number is found on the receipt page and mail you get from the web shop. If you don't have a Serial Number, you may buy it at www.diat.no.
Your license is checked whenever you try to install or run DIAT. During installation, if a license file is found, you are asked whether you want to keep the currently installed license or replace it.



If you choose to replace the license, or if no valid license is found, you will be presented with the Serial Number dialog.





Enter your serial number and an optional email-address. Providing an email address is optional, but will help us identify you as the valid owner of the serial number if you contact Mediateket for support requests or other inquiries.

Activation

After providing a valid Serial Number, you are required to activate your copy of DIAT. The activation may be done online, or by email or phone.

Number of Activations Note that a Serial Number may only be activated on one machine, but you may activate that one machine multiple times. The activation process locks your copy of DIAT to a fingerprint made from your hardware configuration. For information about re-activation in the case of hardware changes, see later in this chapter

Online Activation

If you choose Online Activation, please make sure you have a working connection to the Internet.

Online Activation Requirements The Online Activation process has to be able to connect to lisens.mediateket.no at port 80

You will be able to configure the proxy settings in use in the Activation dialog.


When you press Activate now, the license system will connect to the License Servers and validate your copy of DIAT.




If the activation was successful, you will get a confirmation message from the activation system.




In the unlikely event of a failed activation, you will get an error message. If the problem was related to your Internet connection, you will be asked to verify that your machine is connected to the Internet, and try again. If it is related to a problem with the license server, you will get an error message with an error number.
Please include this error number in any report to DIAT Support. You may get contact information at www.diat.no.

Manual Activation by Mail or Phone

If you don't have access to the Internet, you may activate your copy of DIAT using email or phone.
You will be provided with an information window listing the details about your DIAT copy. Please copy and paste the information and mail it to diat@mediateket.no.
You may also phone Mediateket during office hours. You will be asked to provide the three installation codes, and will be given an Activation Key in return.



Enter the Activation Key in the entry field, and press Activate. If the activation was successful, you will get a message confirming the activation.

Hardware Changes

If you add or change hardware in your machine, the changes will be detected by DIAT. You will then be prompted do re-activate your copy of DIAT.



You will be given a grace-period where you will be able to run DIAT as normal, but you will be reminded on the remaining time each time you start DIAT. The grace period will expire both after a number of runs of DIAT, and after a number of days since the change in hardware was detected.
If you choose to activate DIAT, you will be presented with the activation workflow outlined above.
When the grace-period expires, you will be forced to activate DIAT before you may continue.




After pressing Ok, you will be presented with the normal activation workflow.

Re-activation on same machine If you have only changed some of your hardware components, the license system should be able to detect that only parts of the hardware is new, and will allow a re-activation. However - if too much of the hardware fingerprint has changed, activation may be rejected. You will then have to contact Mediateket to get your license unlocked to allow for re-activation of your copy of DIAT.
